I don't know what possessed me to do a portrait when I haven't been painting for a while. I got some new pictures of my granddaughter and I couldn't resist. I wasn't sure what to do for the background; she was leaning up against a white louver closet door and sitting on brownish tile. I didn't want to get too detailed on the background, but not sure if this works.
Is there a method for painting a tutu? Should it be more detailed?
How could you resist painting this little sweetie pie! Love the toes - it's 100% kid, no frills, just life. Love it - well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen. I agree, she is adorable, but then I'm a little partial. My daughter-in-law was pleased, so I must have done OK.
ReplyDeleteMelanie, what a cutie! You have done a marvelous job with all aspects. Her face just lights up the whole painting, and I like the subtle colors you used for the background and foreground. They're very appropriate as they let he shine as the main focus. I think you did well with the tutu - and, no, I don't think there's a specific method for tutu painting ( I looked when I painted a tutu not long ago.) - after all, it's mostly fluff. You've definitely given that impression with the little frill indications. You should be so proud of this. It's a charming painting and one that will be treasured as time goes on. Wonderful skin tones - not so easy with watercolor! :) You made my day!
ReplyDeleteCarol, you made my day also with your comments. Thank you. I hope I can do as well again since I have several more photos of her I would like to turn into paintings.
